A good rule of thumb to follow is to apply for new credit cards every 3-6 months. Mainly this is due to the Chase 5/24 rule. I will break down why this rule is, and how to consider this when apply for new Chase credit cards. Meanwhile, this doesn’t apply for all credit card companies, so it has implemented this rule as well.
I will then talk about the time that you should be cautious about applying for new cards.
1. Right before buying a home
2. When you are trying to rebuild credit
3. If you have bad or low credit
4. Recently rejected on a credit card application
And lastly, I will go over my credit card application strategy and 2 things that I consider before applying for a new credit card.
